Who we are
Nomad Travel Tales (“we”, “us”) publishes travel guides, destination histories and trip-planning tools at nomadtraveltales.com (the “Site”). We decide how and why the personal data described here is used, which makes us the data controller. You can reach us at nomadtraveltales@gmail.com or through our contact page.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact form: your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message.
- Newsletter: your email address, and a record of when you agreed to receive emails.
- Emails you send us: whatever you choose to include.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language and screen size.
- Usage data such as the pages you view, how long you stay, and the page that referred you.
- Cookie and similar identifiers, but only in the categories you allow (see our Cookie Policy).
We do not collect payment details, and visitors cannot create accounts. We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of data such as health, religion or precise location.

We use a consent banner so you can accept or reject non-essential cookies. We use Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) to understand which guides are useful. Where analytics or advertising cookies are used, they load only after you consent. We may show ads from Google AdSense or similar networks, and some links on the Site are affiliate links. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the Site, under appropriate safeguards:
- Hosting and delivery: our web host and content delivery network.
- Analytics and advertising: Google, when you accept the relevant cookies.
- Email: the email service used to receive your messages and send replies.
- Authorities: where the law requires it, or to protect our legal rights.
If the Site is ever sold or merged, personal data may transfer to the new owner, who must honour this policy.
International transfers

How long we keep data
- Contact messages: up to 24 months after our last reply, then deleted.
- Newsletter emails: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Analytics data: according to our Google Analytics retention setting, typically 2 to 14 months.
- Security logs: a short period, usually 30 days or less.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of these rights. We honour them for everyone, wherever you are.

If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom
You may also complain to your local data protection authority, for example the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK.
If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law
You may know what personal information we collect, ask for correction or deletion, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information. Advertising cookies are off unless you accept them, and you can turn them off again in the cookie settings. We will not discriminate against you for using your rights.

We handle personal information in line with Canada’s PIPEDA. You may ask to see, correct or withdraw consent for your information, and you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. You may ask for access or correction, and you may complain to us first and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
If you live in Russia or elsewhere
You may contact us to access, correct or delete your data. We will respond to requests in line with the laws that apply to us.
Children
The Site is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us data, email us and we will delete it.
Security
The Site runs over HTTPS, access to our systems is limited, and software is kept up to date. No online service is perfectly secure, so please avoid sending sensitive information in messages.

Our guides link to hotels, tour operators and other third-party sites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, and the “Last updated” date at the top will change with it. For significant changes we will say so on the Site.
